Externship Opportunities

Welcome to Fredericksburg Equine and Small Animal Veterinary Services in Texas!

We are thrilled to offer enriching 1-4 week externship opportunities to dedicated veterinary students. While we prioritize 4th year students, all passionate learners are welcome. At Fredericksburg Equine, we take pride in providing a well-rounded experience encompassing both equine and small animal practice. Our caseload is thoughtfully balanced, with approximately 50% equine and 50% small animal cases. Please note that we do not handle exotic pets or ruminants.

As an extern, you will be actively encouraged to engage in all facets of our practice. This includes valuable hands-on involvement in patient treatments, surgical procedures, and diagnostic workups. Our aim is to provide you with a comprehensive and immersive learning experience.

Nestled in the heart of a charming, rural town, Fredericksburg offers a welcoming community just an hour’s drive from San Antonio and an hour and a half from Austin. Here, you’ll discover a vibrant tourism scene, boasting Main Street Shopping, Wineries, and an array of festivals to enjoy.

For your convenience, we provide one efficiency apartment exclusively for extern use, ensuring a comfortable and seamless experience during your time with us.
